Re: ais points, rot, etc.

Linda. I don't think that the point system considers rot to be a criteria.
Durability seems to refer to how long the bloom stays fresh in appearance.
Rot is a criteria under cultural practices. Too much manure/fertiliser, too
litle sun, too much moisture produces rot.
Cultural practices will help produce "goog" duribility of the bloom,
though no one can adjust THAT finely. (that's goodddd above here)
You should not be grinding your teeth, didn't yer mom ever say...
Seriously, in Philadelphia, you should have the conditions to grow
iris well. You have mild (ish) winters, lots of sun. Which type is giving
you the most problem? What is the microclimate you are trying to grow
them in?
Now, I'm reading this -- Rot is not a criteria. Rot is a result of
poor growing conditions. It's the conditions that are the criteria.
Pests, rot, foliage damage -- these are results of horticultural practices
that need to be changed. This is Mother Nature trying to tell you that some
thing in your garden needs to be changed.
	It's going to be ok.
Carolyn Schaffner in Buffalo NY where my iris (gloat) have more increases
than I can ever remember?????? Maybe that's wishful???
