Walking home from work today I saw several historic TB's blooming in the
yard of an old house that is now rental property. They are in the same bed
that had produced I. germanicus blooms and buds in time to be zapped by the
March 15 freeze. These iris are lilac-colored selfs, with almost
completely white beard (some yellow at the very top near the flower center),
slight single ruffle at bottom of falls, very tall (ca. 4 feet), slender
stalks, and, obviously, early bloomer. Does this description cause a name
to leap into anybody's mind? Thanks.
