I at last unpacked my time/life gardener books and looked
up that one, says they do best where winters are moist as that's when the bulbs
are growing and summers are dry while they are dormant. also says
that disturbing established clumps may delay blooming for a year
or two. soil : well-drained,fertile. Is known as spider lily and
is good for pot growing. Wouldn't mind adding it to my garden.
I have a japanese show on tape where this bulb was used in Japan
to make a poison too. The red ones are Lycoris radiata, there is
a L.sprengeri that go from vivid red to purple,blue, or rose color.
