It is up to the ethics of the people using the products they make or or buy
then use.
It is unlawful to use products in a manor not subscribed by the manufacturer.
If a person uses pesticides at the rate they themselves prescribe it, does not
make it right. We are abusing ourselves, our earth and all other life around
us. There was a period of time that DDT was widely used, and people trusted
the manufacturer. Now we know that the chemical killed birds, destroyed the
integrity of the bird shells. I'm sure many benificial insects were destroyed
along with the ones we don't want to mess with. If we diligently keep our
gardens as uncomfortable for the bad guys as possible by keeping weeds pulled
and properly dispossed of, not planting too closely, not overly fertilizing,
watering enough without over doing it. There will be fewer of the critters we
don't want in our garden sites and less reason to use chemicals which should
be used as a last resort. We are the ones trying to alter the earth because we
want a certain plant in a certain place in a healthy condition whether it
belongs there or not.
I'm guilty as much as the next , it depends upon how hard I have been working
to get my garden in decent shape as to whethet the chemicals get dragged out
or not. Sometimes it depends on how much money I have spent on a plant and how
mad I am because some bug decided to make dessert of it.
We do need to take responsiblity for our actions.
