A month or so ago, I 'excavated' a chunk of RHEINGAUPERLE? (older
historic) to send to someone.  This rhizome was in a death struggle with
a big clump of fescue and I think the iris would have won.  It had
increases on the GRANDMOTHER rhizome.  Quite a sight.  But I agree, that
isn't 'normal'.  I have no idea if it's normal for this cultivar, which
also seems to be quite resistant to Roundup, though clearly not quite as
resistant as the fescue!
