I see that on iris leaves frequently when the weather has been very wet
followed by warm muggy weather especially. Sometimes, it seems to lead
to rot, sometimes to more leaf spot, sometimes nothing changes. It
seems to occur on the 'between' leaves - not the outside ones and not
the inner ones. It definitely is more prevalent on the 'unhealthier'
cultivars than the 'survivors'.
I have always assumed it's a symptom of problems with the whole plant,
not something just affecting the leaves, but I don't think we have had
any discussion on list about this. (here's your chance John, see if my
steel trap memory missed this one). I am curious to hear what others
might know about this darker green, 'wet' look.
My soil has so much rock and gravel in it that it seems unlikely to be a
'wet soil' problem affecting roots, and it seems to affect lush growth
the most.
