     It may have been a little early for them to start blooming.  I have a
lot of bloom stems coming up, but not too many blooms yet.  It appears to
me that established clumps of African Iris will bloom more, start earlier
and bloom later than newly planted clumps.  Ask your son if he is getting
blooms now.  Another note with this plant is that it is easy to overlook
the bloom stems until they flower.
