     If any of your neighbors had Irises, there will be Iris Borers in the
area.  The best way to tell if you have an infested plant is to look for
leaves that have little "notches" removed from them.  If you see this, you
have a Borer problem and will need to spray.  If these "notches" are not
present, there is no need to spray.
     Also, sanitation is a good way to help reduce the Iris Borer problem. 
The moth prefers to lay eggs in dead Iris leaves.  So, cleaning them up
(put them in the garbage, do not compost) will get rid of many Iris Borer
eggs.  A thorough cleanup in the spring will be good too.
