overcome as far as growing the ABs with more aril content: Wisconsin isn't
noted for being dry in the summer. Even if you have an area you consider
dry, you're still likely to get more rain and have more humidity (lots more
humidity) than the arils are comfortable with. Why not start with some of
the quarter-breds, hopefully some from gardens in your area rather than
gardens in more dry areas? Then if they do well for you, you can start
trying to add those with more aril content.

Hello Barb,
Thanks for the great advice. The area I'm interested in planting arilbreds is
under an overhang on south side of house which of course is getting sun all
day long. Even after a pretty intense rain storm the soil there is still
usually bone dry. Also, it is very sandy soil. I have been growing things
there but have to use a soaker hose to make sure there is moisture. I have
also heard of growers in our area covering their arilbreds with glass? to keep
out the moisture. I feel relatively sure I can keep the rain off them but the
humidity is beyond my control...I guess the best thing I can do it just give
it a whirl and see what happens. :)
