RE: CULT: HIST: old vs new


Historics are a mixed bunch, just as modern irises are.  My experience
has been that if I get cultivars grown commercially in a climate
somewhat similar to mine, they usually are tough, but as with moderns,
some are tougher than others.

If I buy cultivars from a supplier that has a climate really different
from mine, they may not survive here - in other words, some cultivars
might thrive in California, but not here.
