The only part of NY that is zone 7 is a teeny part of Long Island. This would
tend to give them not only the warmest part of NY but also a lot more
moisture. Very similar to friends of mine on the jersey shore. Take the mulch
off earlier, say early April. Putting it on depends on the year, some are
warmer, but December should be fine also. No sense increasing leaf spot or
other fun stuff...
