Yes, that's me, I am from northeastern Long Island. The summers here are hot
and humid, off and on. The only reason is was considering mulching with
double shredded wood chips over into the end of May, is because for the last
2 Spring's we had a late frost -- the 3rd week in May. My sister in PA, told
me she purchased her annuals around Mother's Day, had a frost, the 3rd week
in May and it killed her annuals. Presently, I have one iris that was
winterized with red cedar mulch -- it bloomed and increased like crazy.
Initially, I placed the mulch down for decoration purposes and to retain
moisture. After joining and reading various iris/talk in June, I removed the
mulch. (Thanks!) I have ordered additional irises and I am trying to get
things set up. I appreciate all input especially since there appears to be
no local iris society in my vicinity.
