Re: TB: NOT Buying for Names

Not buying for names . . . When my oldest was in 1st grade (she's 32 now)
she had a VERY BAD teacher. One example: while her students watched the
other 1st graders decorate for christmas, this teacher had a sparce tree,
with just a few decorations, brought and set up in the room. No room
decorations . She told everyone that her hobby was orchids. (I worked down
the hall from them)

There's an iris hybridizer who allows garden visitors to name his
introductions. Several have been named by this former teacher. I refuse to
buy them, and find I don't like most of his introductions. Mainly, he works
in colors I'm not interested in, but I've often wondered how much I'm
influenced by my utter dislike of the person that named so many of them!
