I understand the amendment, but what is 'consolidated yellow clay'?  I have
just been setting posts through a couple of yards of yellow clay and it is
gummy, nasty stuff.  I don't know if it's yellow because it's so tight it
lacks oxygen or because the limestone shelf is leaching into it causing the
color.  Probably both.  It's worse than my usual red clay and that's not
good.  I'm amending it heavily, but wonder how much good it will do.
