While I'm reflecting on the losses and successes of this growing season,
my mind also swings forward with eager anticipation to a future that
wouldn't be nearly so bright but for the overwhelming generosity of a
number of you listers. So many of you extended yourselves to help
rebuild my iris beds this year, that now my beds are filled to
overflowing with enthusiastic new contenders in the game I like to call,
"Are you tough enough for THIS?"
I know I thanked each of you individually when you shared your increases
and extras with me, but I would like to thank you now collectively for
renewing my spirit for gardening, my enthusiasm for irises, and my
appreciation of man (and woman) kind. With each rhizome I received and
planted this summer, I felt myself becoming more solidly rooted as well.
I hope you all know how very much your encouragement means to me.
