Jan,
What is a 'polar bear' iris? Sounds like a whitish
color that should grow well here in my 'polar
climate'. My iris was a peachy orange with modern
form. The falls were large and horizontal - this is
the first year it bloomed.
I did have irises that I got after the Denver
convention (when they gave them away for postage)and
it was in that section. I did have a marker that
simply said, IRENE...why do I think it was one of
Oscar Schick's? It may be one of Hal Stahly's, too.

No, since it just bloomed this year. However, I did
notice that the i.d. was missing on this one last
year. I was going to compost it if it didn't bloom
this year but it was so striking that it is staying
put.
