Hello

I am new to this discussion group. I am very happy to join and hopefully
will find excellent advice on many subjects.

This year, I have decided to buy about 30 varieties of TALL-BEARDED irises
in prevision to do a demonstration garden project for people to see and buy
the flowers that are presented in Quebec, Canada (near the Vermont border).
There is not a lot of varieties available here.

Since the last messages concerned iris culture I thought it would be the
right time to ask for some advice about what would be the best way of
planting them ? What is the best soil mixture ? Actually I have 3 beds of
black soil, horse manure, compost and alfafa pellets. I am scared that they
are to rich for IRISES ? Can somebody please tell me what would be the best
soil-mixture or what can I add to my beds to make sure that my irises will
grow correctly ?

Mr Mogensen talked about trenches. If I understood, you ment trenches beside
where the irises are planted. So, imagine the roots eventually eat from the
trenches without really being planted near the soil formulation in the
trenches.

So if anybody can help me or give me some advice, I would really appreciate
it.

Thanks !
