Griff and others,

As you know I'm trying Preen (pre-emergent) for the first time this year.  

A few weeks back there was a very heavy rain, around 3 inches, right after I 
planted a bed and treated it with Preen.  It's really only part of a bed but 
it's approximately 5 X 25 ft.  

I'm seeing thistle and other small seedlings coming up on the higher spots 
within the bed (around the irises).  My guess is the rain was so hard that it 
washed the Preen off of these higher areas.  

I'm afraid to apply more Preen.  I don't want to take a chance on retarding 
the growth of these irises.  Should I just reconcile myself to pulling the 
weeds in these areas?  How long before I could safely reapply?
