Jim,  I grow I. carthaliniae quite successfully in the garden, along with JIs
and Siberians, and give it no special treatment.  It is very easy to grow
here in Virginia and makes no special demands.  One year it even gave me a
bloom stalk in September.  Clarence Mahan in VA
