RE: OT-BIO: Kathie Day-Nski

Welcome Kathie. Other sites you should check out are the American Iris =
Society www.isomedia.com/home/AIS/ and the Canadian Iris Society =
tor-pwl.netcom.ca/~cris/CIS.html. These sites will give lots of links to =
other sites. The key reference book is the World of Iris that you can buy =
from the AIS. It contains descriptions of the different types of iris, =
their culture requirements and how to hybridize. There have been recent =
publications on irises by Timber Press (www.timber-press.com) and a new book=
 =
(with gorgeous pictures) from Australia will be offered soon through the =
AIS.

Bonemeal is for bulbs. The favoured treatment for iris is alfalfa pellets.=
 =
There have been articles on this published by AIS and CIS and recent =
discussions on iris-L. You can check the iris-L archives (there is a search=
 =
engine). You might also want to read the discussions we had on solarizing. =
=
You won't be able to do this now as you have to plant your rhizomes =
immediately, but you might want to use this technique for preparing new =
beds.

Hello! My name is Kathie Day-Nski. I'm originally from Bonita, Ca, a
suburb of San Diego. My husband and I moved to southeastern Wisconsin
several years ago.

I'd appreciate any advice, site suggestions, reference books, etc to help
me get started on this. Thanks for taking the time to read this! Kathie
