CULT-species

Ross stated "Where I live nothing would grow naturally except cactus,
sagebrush and prarie dogs. Perhaps it's human arrogance, but I like my
gardens - and they are all "artificial" in the sense you describe."

If you look at the 300 species of irises, a very large number are from
areas of the world (Turkey through the southern regions of the old USSA,
Iraq, Iran, the Middle East...) which would fit this description. There
is a great range of beautiful irises that will grown in desert
condditions and grow only reluctantly under "normal" gardening
conditions.
