Let me first say that I like T&M in general, but I tried these same
seeds from them 3 years ago and was fairly disappointed. My germination rate was
poor (could be my fault) and the 4 plants I did get were all the same pale
blue-lavender. This offering is definitely very close to pure I. douglasiana in
my opinion. I am sure there are cheaper sources of this type of seed. I would
offer some of my own this year (I have a large stand of unnamed near species + a
dozen or so modern hybrids) to the list, but too many of my pods came up empty
this year - poor pollination on my part.
On the other hand I had tremendous success with hybrid Higo iris seed
from Parks - If you want a mixture of Single JPN iris - I had nearly 100%
germination and flowers the second year of all the typical color combinations
(white - lavender - dark violet + plicata).
