I have received bearded irises this year from 8 different suppliers
and beardless from 5 different suppliers and this is my humble
assessment in order of quality: (just the best)
Bearded:
A tie for first place and not because they both are on this list:
Bearded: Beardless:
1. Superstition; Lowell Baumunk 1. Mountain River Flower Farm
2. Walter Moores 2. Pope's Perennials
3. Iris & Collectibles (the Craigs) 3. Windwood Gardens
The MRFF is a local nursery run by the Camilles here in Northern
New Hampshire. The bulk of their iri stock comes from Ensata Gardens
in Michigan. They have started mail-order of Siberians and Japanese
irises and lilium this year.

Shirley Pope operates her own nursery in Gorham, Maine and sends her
irises in May to me and they get a head-start here in Zone 3.
Bob and Judy Hollingworth in Michigan send very large divisions of
Siberians (their own only) and I had to soak them for almost three
weeks and they are looking good finally planted.
Cheers,
Ellen
