I am always GREATLY impressed and grateful when I open that box from *whoever*
and they've included things I didn't ask and/or pay for (this goes for trades,
too.)
I am quite grateful for commercial growers sending extras... I don't have the
money to buy all the new intros when I want them, and of course, being a
beginning hybridizer, I have to stay current. So it's really nice to see a 1998
Maryott intro included with my modest order. Or a Tom Burseen seedling included
with my order, because I told him what a lovely flower it was. And the list
goes on.
Frankly, I am surprised that this is a topic of contention. If you don't want
to send extras with my order, fine. Last time I checked, it wasn't in the Laws
of the Universe that Commercial Iris Gardens were required to send generous
extras. However, it alludes in a MAJOR way to the hospitality of the people you
order from when they *do* send nice extras. Same token, if you don't want
extras, just say so on your order form. That's it. We don't need to debate
such trivial things. If you don't like the whole "extras" thing, that's also
fine, but please don't ruin it for those of us who do. This is the same thing
as with Thornbird. If you don't like the flower, fine, I respect your opinion,
but could you please let it go, for those of us who *do* enjoy it?
