Are you certain about this? I understand that the pet food industry is one of
the
largest consumers of garlic. Apparently it makes the horrible stuff put into pet
food palatable.

In a similar vein, I was once advised to plant garlic with lily bulbs to keep
pocket gophers away. The gophers ate the garlic first, told their friends and
then set to work on the lilies. We grow quite a lot of garlic and I have not
noticed that our cats have any aversion to it. Since we are not bothered by
vampires, I now confine it to the vegetable garden.
