I have to agree with the above statement. I have learned a lot about the
different way different people think concerning extras. I did initially get a
little irritated about some of the negative comments over receiving extras.
Personally I have nothing but praise for the extras I have received this year,
they have all been top quality. I can understand if someone does not have room
for the extras or only wants certain colors or types. My feelings on this is
that
if you don't want the extra iris you receive then give them to someone else or
donate them to your community, most communities have gardens or schools and I'm
sure they could use and appreciate them. I know the AIS Youth division would
love
to have the bonus iris that some of you don't want to receive. I guess a person
could always place an instruction on the order to please send any bonus iris to
the AIS Youth Director. Any comments on this from the growers out there?
As I said, I have learned a lot during this discussion. I would never have sent
a
wish list for bonus plants to a nursery/grower. This would never have entered
my
mind. To me this seems a little presumptuous but it seems that the growers
would
prefer this. I now see their point on this also, never took that into
consideration before either. When this first started I was amazed that some of
us
here would object to receiving bonus iris! Well I now see your point although I
don't agree with you. Some of the bonus iris I have received so far I wanted
but
didn't order because of cost and others I probably would never have ordered but
they will give me a more balanced garden than I would have had otherwise. I
imagine my orders were hard for the growers to match extras with because I did
not
order for color, in fact I don't even know what some of these iris look like
yet,
I haven't seen pictures of most of them. My orders were all based on lineage!
Try matching extras to that! I can just see Rick/Roger, Mike and the others out
there scratching their head's trying to figure out how I was ordering. :) I
will
be more considerate of them in the future now that I know what they try to do.
