Hi All,
Here's another bit to add to the squirrel thread. I have had rhizomes pop
themselves out of the ground in areas with less irrigation. They try to put
their roots into the soil, but I haven't watered it deep enough and the laws
of physics make them go the wrong way. Is this a phenomenon limited to dry-
summer areas where the ground can turn to concrete?
I also lost two rhizomes of REMINISCENCE to Chinese Sacred Lilies (fall-
blooming narcissus) which came up underneath them and pushed them out. (This
year I took photos of where all my bulbs were.) I guess the lives of irises
are just filled with peril.
