Thanks, Janet!  That may, indeed, be what they are.  After reading the 
URL above, I mixed up some rubbing alcohol with water and a bit of 
dishwashing soap and sprayed every piece of "lint" I could find on my 
iris leaves.  That "lint" ain't movin' no more!  I'll keep a closer eye 
on things down in the basement so I can continue to spray any more 
suspicious characters that may pop up.  At least I'm fairly certain I 
caught this first batch as soon as they hatched.
