Well, to the extent that the English typically do not flee a challenge, I 
concur, but having effectively deferred to AIS for decades in these same matters, 
and being rather a small and battered shop after the war----fewer than a 
thousand total members in the British Iris Society in 1957 and 40 British Irises 
registered that same year-- the honor might or might not have been greeted with 
alacrity. Or were you thinking of Kew?
