I keep some reticulated iris, crocus and winter aconite in my iris beds. When I moved, I didn't have a place to plant them, so they got put in the iris rows, between the clumps, they've done good, and don't pose a threat to crowd the iris. They bloom and are pretty much gone in no time, the ret. iris do have a few leaves here and there, but nothing to threaten the beardeds. I do think daisies and cone flowers would be large enough to cause several problems.
