RE: CULT: Companion plants

I don't like to have nothing blooming for part of the summer, so I have these
(relatively carefree), well away from my iris, for sequential bloom:

crocus and daffodils - for early bloom (essential for my mental health)
daylilies - the extended bloom kind that go from about mid-June to mid-August
white alyssum - around the edges. they self-seed and if my DH runs up on them
with the mower, they recover quickly. They will also keep blooming through
frosts until killing freeze.

I do have daisies in a couple of beds, mostly despite my efforts to eradicate
them. They are invasive and don't look good for very long. I also raise
gladiolus for show and always have a few mavericks to plant in any gaps,
timing them to bloom after the daylilies are fading (most are 80-85 days from
planting to bloom).

With these and my rebloomers, I have something blooming virtually all the time
from mid-March to late November.
