Some photos of corn row companion plants on iris-photos (see link
below).
Donald, what genus/species are your <native blackfoot daisies>?
My daisies are very invasive & look pretty ratty as they age, but easy
to manage (shallow rooted and vulnerable to roundup).
Two spectacular failures as companion plants last year in the corn rows
were yellow crookneck squash and salad tomatos that escaped from their
cages, sprawled over everything, made weeding impossible, and seemed to
really slow growth in the irises they covered.
Almost as bad as self sowing turnips! ....The turnips do make a nice
color display when they bloom in early spring. Trying to shift over to
brassicas with smaller leaves - upland cress etc.
