Not sure if it's really in the same ballpark, but I heard on a show on HGTV this past week that freesia are in the iris family. I thought I'ld order some freesia from the garden catalogs and see what they have in common...

I can't remember whether the tectorum I have is white or blue.... or one
of each... One came from Neil - pretty sure it's blue. The other
clump, which set the pod, may be white, from seeds from Anner years ago.
I wonder if anybody species group knows about genetic similarities
between tectorum and bearded species.
