Re: HYB: rebloom without plicata

That sounds manageable <g> What else were you planning for the next 14 yrs?

Working with the old stuff does take a few generations to upgrade, which is why SULPHUR AND MOLASSES caught my eye. I wonder what it looks like and if there are plicata genes there as well. Anybody have an email address for Libby?

SULPHUR AND MOLASSES (Libby Cross, R. 2004), Sdlg. 00B-2. TB, 30" (76 cm), L & RE S. butterscotch beige; style arms yellow beige; F. rusty red; beards orange. Brimstone X Autumn Twilight.

Maybe write an article for the Recorder asking if there are rebloomers known <not> to carry plicata? Or try asking on gardenweb and Davesgarden? Seem to be quite a few pollen daubers active there who don't say much here.

Or is this a question you've asked around before? Thinking of Joe G in particular.

One other thought - it might not take all those generations. If you are lucky enough to get just the right kind of a 'break' (and I don't even pretend to understand how all that stuff works), the genes for plicata could be lost in one generation. But what a lot of work to be able to identify it! (test crosses with plicata)

If I got rebloom with the first rebloom set, I'll have something to introduce no earlier than 2020! (Maybe 2018.)
