Interesting discussion over on FB about form that I thought I'd share here (so folks can look it up in the archives if/when it comes up).

Chuck Chapman posted this over in iris lovers, repeated here (edited/shortened): <There is a limited amount of "Floral Mass" (Law of) that a rhizome can produce - more flowers you have on a stalk, the smaller and more tailored they will be. larger, more ruffles etc the smaller. >

So, dag nab it, that also contributes to it being hard to have lots of large ruffled flowers on rebloomers.

Fewer leaves/fan may mean more rapid production of stalks/ frequent blooms, but less photosynthetic surface to support lots of big, ruffled blooms. :-(

So we need <huge>, wide, tall individual leaf blades?

Linda Mann east TN USA zone 7
where "kate": ((Imm x Csong) x TWILIGHT FANCIES) X MATRIX is finishing up its 3rd stalk of the season with 12 buds. Not much ruffling or width, but blooms are normal/ large TB size. 5 stalks in 12 months (late fall, spring, summer, fall, late fall)
