No, that is not what I have said at all. Anner does not delete OTs as a
matter of course. She enjoys a good OT riff occasionally and she respects OTs
as an option given to the members of the list who are, as has been pointed
out, a community of friends. I've snooped on other lists where there is no
such option and the adjective which leaps to mind is atrophied. I believe
though, that OTs too, or OTs especially if you will, should also be
introduced by their proper subject header. I tend to use the abbreviated OT:
rather than OT: CHAT, myself, since I gag at the word "chat," except in the
French of course, but to show I am sincere I am using it now.
What I don't always mess with reading is stuff that is offerred in so sloppy
a fashion that it shows a lack of clear thought. There are exceptions, for we
must remember that some people's minds don't distinguish categories very
well, and we must also remember that some of our friends here are a little
bit giddy or vague by nature, and we must love them anyway. Anner does not
view her decisions to read a post or not read a post as a punitive gesture,
but only one of personal practicalities.
Now, I'd like to mention something else. Simply stated, if people feel
compelled to scold I wish they would make their own points and leave me out
of it.
The first time I noticed this phenomenon was when someone posted a rant on
the alleged insensitivity of AIS to some iris issues. In the middle of same I
was evoked. I conveyed my disapprobation at the time.
The second time was more recently when I found some of my posts being hauled
out of the Archives to brandish at someone. The temptation was great to
suggest the persons involved should take their discussion into the parking
lot and leave me the hell out of it, but it seemed prudent to refrain from
comment.
Now I'm being evoked in someone's response to a person whose letter I chose
not to address myself. Indeed, at the time I wrote my response to Walter I
had not received the letter in question.
Bluntly speaking, in the unlikely event that I want someone beat up with my
words or ideas, rest assured I'll take care of that myself. Otherwise kindly
leave me out of this sort of thing.
Thanxerootie.
