Well, I lost one already. Came home today to find the fan of Orange Show
fallen over, rot as the cause. Although I have had very good success in the
past with saving rhizomes by cleaning off all the rot, shaving the roots,
soaking in 10% bleach solution, and air - drying for a week and then
replanting, OS was too far gone to be salvaged. The fan was the last part
of the rhizome to be hit, which meant the entire rhizome was riddled with
rot by the time it reached the fan, so there is nothing there to save. I
was so looking forward to seeing it in person this year, for all I have seen
so far are pictures.
Replaced it, and all the soil around it with an arilbred I had in a pot
called Prince Thou Art. I have never seen this one in bloom - not even seen
a picture, so I made sure I planted it an inch and a half above the water
line so that it would drain well and not be as wet as OS was.
