Although I cannot understand Dutch, I can recognize the language. Most
likely, what you saw was the Dutch translation of a previously posted message
in English.

Yes Mark, I think you are probably correct. I realised that it was in dutch. It actually reminded me of those chain letters that do the rounds telling people that they can become rich in 6 weeks of they follow the instructions. I guess it was all the addresses. Usually when I see a mailing with a zillion addresses at the top, my hackles rise, and I reach for the 'block sender' key.
The only dutch I ever learnt, and I don't even know if it was anywhere near correct was - an aunt was married to a dutchman, and when he went out one day, knowing she didn't have a key, left her a message pinned to the back door, in dutch, so that only she would be able to find the back door key. It was something along the lines of "der key ist under der matten". Which the family had many good laughs about!
