Hi, I've been trying lurking for a couple of days, trying to get the
feel of things. I'm a little intimidated by the expertise of many of
the posters here, since I'm just an enthusiastic (obsessed) amateur
in the world of irises.
I am a researcher for a Biotech company with a background in Art as
well as science, live in a Zone 4 part of Maine, where my irises are
currently sleeping under about 3 feet of snow. Irises have always
been my favorite flower...turning to obsession in the past 5 years or
so. For the 2-3 weeks a year my irises actually bloom here, I spend
at least 6 months planning & thinking about them. So, I think I'll
lurk and learn for a while.
I do have one burning question right now...could anyone direct me to
a commercial grower that has the Spuria "Ila Remembered"? A friend
and I both have "Family Name" plots in our gardens...irises which
bear the same names as family members. Imagine our delight in
finding one named Ila, her mother's name! Unfortunately, we've never
seen a picture or description of "Ila Remembered" or found a
commercial grower to buy it from. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Melanie
