With 10 stalks of Mesmerizer up, 8 of which have bloomed (3
in between blooms, but with more buds to come), I must agree
(but Los Angeles has different situations/problems from most of the
country).

Al,

Thank you for your upbeat opinion of judges!

I took a lot of heat a few years ago for defending the judging system
against complaints which were neither substantiated nor retracted.

Also, I might suggest taking in a few stalks at your next show.
It's fun. You will learn even more about what's good and what isn't,
and if you clerk a judging of one of your stalks, you learn a lot
about anger control. Or else we read about your arrest for mass
murder the next day. (Been there, done that. "What are these idiots
talking about? This is perfection to the nth degree!")

And I most certainly agree, the garden is the best place to see
an iris. And, clerking is great. I recommend trying it to anyone who
hasn't.

Gerry, enjoying a day off from work
