Gosh the iris chats have been very interesting to me. In looking out at
our field (about 3 acres planted) I see different size growth thruout
the field, some are 12 inches tall, some one half inch, some are like
weeds others are "princess's", not inclined to do much!! Bobbi from
Shepherds Gardens spoke at the region 14 winter meeting and showed
slides of their garden we got to see shadecloth at work. I also was
interested in hearing Mr. Walter Moore's explanation of "forcing" since
I had not heard that term used in association with iris. I do explain to
people that our field is planted the same as a corn crop, we overhead
water as needed. We do have the advantage of tall eucaliptus trees that
run the full lengh on eastside of field. Lorraine at Woodland iris
gardens trying to get field count done so we can proof read catalog in
between our regular jobs.
