I don't know either, Jan. I recieved a very long message a few months back
warning me that iris are going to kill people and that I simply HAD TO put
this warning on our website. I tried to reason with the sender, but to no
avail. Needless to say, the sender is concerned about the safety of others.
However, the evidence won't support claims of iris toxicity. Of course, if
someone were to eat 20 or 30 rhz. they might indeed be toxic. ;0

I'm curious to know where the first poster got the idea from, that rhizomes
are lethal. I remember a posting some time back, listing the various herbal
remedies, involving irises ingested, or applied.
Can't have been too deadly if people were swallowing the stuff as a cure.
If you search the Mallorn archives, for 'Pliny' you will find some
interesting 'home remedies' that I would not be keen to try myself :-)
Cheers, Jan
