Jan, you don't say how you watered your potted irises. I have had no
trouble with rotting in pots as long as I bottom water them. I bought a
large plastic pan that
is for changing oil in a car. I can get 8 or 9 pots in it at a time, with
it half full of water. When the soil is all damp, I remove those and put
the next group in. Of course, if you have 100 pots, this might take too
much time, but it works fine given the amount of new ones I can afford each
year.
LOL - about 200 pots with freshly started rz's, and another 600 pots of established plants and seedlings.
Not to mention, 100 pots of perennials, and a lot of cuttings coming on, which will need potting, say another 200 plants. 50+ daylilies in pots.....
My new garden will soon be very full of plants ... now all we have to do is find someone who wants to buy our house!
Cheers, Jan
