Hi
Although my mother and all her sisters were gardening fanatics (in NZ) I
can't recall any of them ever growing irises.
I got the start of iris virus about 15 years ago, I was cleaning out an old
overgrown garden in a house I'd bought and discovered some bearded irises
blooming. I'd seen irises before but what was different this time was that
there was a pink one! I assumed it must be "the pink one" and just enjoyed
it. When I moved to another house I actually bought a copy of "Your Garden".
I'd always been so busy gardening and house renovating that I'd never bought
gardening magazines. In this issue Barry Blyth was advertising his end of
year specials, so I ordered some and with them came "THE CATALOGUE". Instant
iris virus and a fairly severe case of daylilitis as well. I didn't have to
learn how to grow them, theSouth Australian climate is so suited to bearded
iris that they just grew.
