My first reaction to the photo of the "unknown diploid" was that it looked
remarkably similar to what I currently grow as Perfection, Barr 1880.
Comparing my slide of Perfection to that in iris-photos makes me uncertain
unless I could grow the two side by each. The color of the standards and
falls are "identical", the haft markings are amazingly similar but I can't
get a good look at the beard in my slide for comparison. The main "drawback"
is that in my slide the spathes are quite "papery" as compared to the
unknown. The branching is typical of Perfection and I hypothesize that the
spathe difference may just be in the stage of maturity. Don't know - BUT - I
will most certainly by paying much closer attention come bloom time.
Identification might be accomplished if Laetitia, Linda and Neil would each
take some measurements as to stalk height, flower dimensions, season of
bloom for their own area, fan leaf height & width, PBF (Y/N) and any other
data which they think might be pertinent. We could then compare notes.
