Just curious; my wife picked up a 4" pot of "iris". The flowers look like
miniature dutch iris. They are smaller (at most 1.5" in diameter) and
shorter than pacific coast natives, very dainty and narrow/tailored form on
approximately 4" stems. The stalk is actually fairly thick for such a small
flower because of a pale/semi-transparent "caul" over the lower 2-3 inches.
The flowers are a deep blue-violet. In the two weeks since she brought them
home, foliage has grown up next to the stalks to about 10" high; very
slender spikes with a relatively rounded structure rather than the usual
flat swords. Anyone know what they are? Don't expect they would thrive
outdoors in a 9b zone, but maybe in the shade?
