Hi John,
I like Carnival in Rio for it's bright colors and interesting combination of those colors. I also like the way it has 2 or 3 blooms open at once on the stem most of the time it is blooming.
I like Megabucks pretty much for the same reason I like Carnival in Rio.
Xanthippes Halo has a very exotic look to it here and is one of my favorite combinations. I grow it on a steep bank for erosion controll and it seems to thrive there.
Chocolate Marmalade is really lovely here and it is one I run to see every blossom. Every flower has perfect form and I do not ever have to take it inside because it has fallen over, even when the dog brushes by it.
Also with Ever After, I just like it. Everyone who drives down here comments on it's cheerful color and pretty form.
Rosette Wine really puts on a display of real clean color that lasts quite awhile, it grows like a weed and blooms the next year after dividing. I am not real crazy about the wide open standards though.
Thornbird always has perfect looking flowers here. The colors are a combination of parchment, green and violet. I don't see the gold that was in Schreiner's picture. Here it has made a really large clump in record time with blossoms spread over a 5 ft wide and 3 feet deep area on a very steep bank. Some people tell me they hate it but I see them stop and stare at the display everytime they come over. I like odd color combinations so this one is right up my alley.
Batman is by far the tallest cultivar I grow. Sometimes it reaches five and a half feet. It doesn't ever fall over and blooms for a very long time. It spreads into huge clumps quickly, and is great in floor vases. It is never messy and the colors are really nice.
Batik is a little show off around here. I have it sitting halfway up a garden that has a wall at the bottom bringing it to eye level. Every flower looks perfect and the colors really pop.
Mary Francis has a scent to die for. It has a soft appearance and really looks strikeng with Dusky Chalenger in the background. This one I always have my nose in. It has a pleasant form with waterfall falls.
These are the first ones that came to mind. I have others I like but these are the ones I really look forward to seeing this year. Some of them are only on their second season here so I do not know how fast they grow. Ever Aftr has been here a long time and is slow, so I put it somewhere that it can grow for a very long time without being disturbed.
Wendy
