Mary Lou, I'm very much low tech too! I scribble all my attempted crosses into little dollar-store notebooks. I try not to use more than one pollen on a single plant so that I don't have to tag the individual pods. When I do use more than one pollen parent, I usually draw a picture of the stalk and write the pollen parent with an arrow beside each individual bud. Sometimes I've also been known to use aluminum foil, rubber bands, string, twisty ties, whatever I have at hand to mark special crosses. Tom (fellow dinosaur ;0) Mary Lou wrote: Definitely low-tech! All my crosses are hand-written in a couple of 69 cent spiral-ring notebooks, which I can carry all around the garden with me. If I have a photo on the computer, I put a "P" in the margin of the notebook. No formal training with computers. Trial and (mostly) error. Have always gotten along better with plants and animals than with mechanical and electronic stuff.
