My seeds don't germinate till April as they are planted in pots in the ground in November. 50% t0 70% bloom the next year after germination (first year). About 10% bloom 3rd year. I have had SDBs from rebloomes bloom the fall after spring germination.
This happens using this method for pushing seedlings: http://www.home.roadrunner.com/~irisinohio/tipps.htm
I now use slow release fertilizer and 20 oz Styrofoam cups. Mike Greenfield----- Original Message ----- From: "Christy Hensler" <hensler@povn.com>

---- Original Message ----- From: ds How long is typical from sprout to 1st bloom in z5 gardens? (of course I know that depends somewhat on culture & how early they are transplanted too) Debra,We're a warm zone 4 and a true zone 5 is only a few miles away. Most irises(bearded and otherwise) should show bloom in 2-3 years after germinating.Unless it's something very special, most will hit the compost if they don'tshow me something at 3 years.
