From what I have seen, the shoulder pattern and the V. spot are independently sorting, independent genes. Don't forget, there are many random recessives floating around. Showing up on same flower at same time , or as carriers, doesn't mean that they are related.
Spots are interesting. I have a slide (actually two slides) of pumilla spot, showing all sorts of colour sorting out. Ones with just cartenoid (yellow spot), some with just blue, etc. And of course the "eyelash" spot, which is an interacation with plicata. that is plicata pattern expressed only in the pumila spot. Ring Around Rosie is a TB wit h V spot and plicata gene expressed only in the spot area.
The pumilla spot is only on the "8 chromosome" set. So can't show up in TB, only the medians. The V. spot is on the "12 chromosome" set, so can show up in TB, BB, IB and SDB. Look at a series of photos on spot SDB and you can see the two differernt spot patterns. The SDB with near solid falls with a narrow rim are the V. spot type.

I've wondered - not classic variegata spot (since that's anthocyanin) but even if there is a carotenoid over white "variegata"type pattern, I've wondered before if that's what this is. The haft and 'broken' spot that shows up in later generations is more like the pumila
spot variations. & is 'peach' in Peach Spot orange or pink and blue? On 2/25/2013 8:58 PM, Chuck Chapman wrote:
That's what it looks like to me, both from photos, and from
pedigree..

Looking at pedigrees & seedlings. Seedlings fromsome of what I thought were variegata type spots have shoulders
colored,
not a full spot. & vice versa, a little. Esp in the pink/yellow/oranges. i.e., Coral Beads, Coral Light, other descendants from Peach Spot. Also shows up in seedlings from Coral Beauty. Gold Burst type. On 2/25/2013 2:11 PM, Chuck Chapman wrote:Peach Spot isn't an amoena, it is spot pattern, variegata spot to be specific.
